A phenomenal night of entertainment with 2 national treasures Barry Humphries and Richard Tognetti, plus a brilliant pianist and wonderful orchestra.
Poetry in motion with satirical wordsmith Humphries and his famous guises, and wonderful orchestrations from the ACO. We travelled from Adelaide and would come back again tomorrow for such a great value show.
An adventurous and bold night of entertainment, we were the winners.

Barry Humphries was extremely entertaining, amusing, intelligent and clearly enjoying himself during the December 17th performance. He once again proves how he can capture and hold the audience's attention, either with nostalgic reminiscences about growing up in Melbourne of long ago, or cold bloodedly addressing members of the audience as his alter egos Sir Les & Dame Edna.
Excellent music provided by the Aust. Chamber Orchestra was also a highlight.
Barry Humphries assures his position as one of Australia's greatest performers and entertainment ambassadors to the overseas market. Well done to all concerned.

I'm afraid to say that this wasn't Barry Humphries at his best. The concept of the show was brilliant, however I feel the show lacked good script writing and the characters of Dame Edna and Sir Les struggled to find their usual freshness and flare. Of course Barry Humphries isn't getting any younger and one wonders how many more shows we will get to see before he puts the cue in the rack. Richard Tognetti and Co were brilliant, no lack of rehearsal there! So all in all it was still worth seeing for the simple reason that there may not be too many more chances to witness this icon of Australian entertainment.

Barry ahumphries was very funny but some of the music the weird 20's jazz stuff was a bit monotonous. Rachmaninoff was a bit long too, but sir les saved the day!

Barry, Les and Edna were in fine form last night at Hamer Hall. My children (17 and 12 years) and I, were indeed privileged to be a part of a beautiful concert arranged and executed by a fine group of musicians and a terrific Storyteller and Entertainer. It was at once nostalgic incorporating an old favourite( Road to Gundagai) and some completely unfamiliar and exciting poetry-in-music that is 'Facade' .
We were thrilled to witness the Masterful Genius that is Richard Tognetti, I laughed and I cried, it was unforgetable!

I really didn't know what to expect and was delightfully surprised at the calibre of the musicians, the way they interacted with each other and the way they spoke to the audience with their instruments...even with humour! The performance was well worth the money and the time and I highly recommend anyone who appreciates high class musicianship to see them.
