Birds of Tokyo - Broken Strings Tour!
Melbourne Town Hall @

Favourite moment: Broken Bones @
Opening act(s): The guy from Augie March. He was quite good and finished his set with "One Crowded Hour" which was a welcome addition to his new music. @

Birds of Tokyo have done it again! I've seen BOT four times now. This concert was amazing. It was surreal to sing along to the fav's with a stringy twist. My only criticism would be ending the concert with Silhouetic. The reason this song kicks arse as a last song is because of its rock value. The song misses an opportunity to bang your head and sing as loud as you can when you take away the spine tingling guitar (thanks Adam), bowel shaking bass (thanks Anthonny), head splitting drums (thanks Adam) and ROCK GOD VOCALS (THANK YOU KENNY!!!!). The stringed section added nothing to this song. But....if Broken Bones had have ended the concert, I think I would have left even happier.
All in all....a GREAT night.
I LOVE IAN KENNY....nearly as much as I love Anthonny Jackson.

The Melbourne Town Hall was a perfect venue for this concert. I went with my daughter and we enjoyed it so much. Sitting 8 rows back we were truly in heaven! The music was beautiful , The singer from Augie March was great. Kennys voice is amazing. Actually it was so good it was hard to sit still! When is the next gig?

Seriously one of the best gigs I have ever been to.
A stripped down gig like that proved what a natural and real band that Birds of Tokyo are. Ian Kenny's vocals were perfect and the orchestra just added that extra bit of wow to it all.
Definitely the best highlight of 2009 and I cant wait for the live dvd.

words can't even explain how good the show was on sunday night. rest assured that if birds of tokyo were doing another broken string show in melb, i'd be going again. for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of hearing ian kenny sing live, you are missing out!!! he is so ridiculously amazing, his voice literally makes me want to cry. and with the band backed up by a four piece string set and a grand piano, it was a unique and unforgettable birds experience. i feel sorry for any birds fan who DIDN'T make it.

One of the best events that we have been to. We have seen Birds of Tokyo at Ballarat Korova lounge which in the words of Ian Kenny "this is like playing in someones loungeroom", this was a great night but you can not appreciate the voice of Ian Kenny but the broken strings tour really allows this to be appreciated.
