Friday-
Australia "A"...why are they named that when you have the likes of Mathew Swan, Liam DeYoung, Robbie Hammond and a bevy of other notable Kookaburas in the team?
The "A" guys played their hearts out against one of the finest teams on the planet, Netherlands. The final score didn't reflect the pace, skill and determination of the A teams efforts.
Kookaburras -I always look forward to watching the South American teams play - their style of attack is different to European teams, deep cracking passes with flamboyant, cutting-edge skills. These guys play on the edge the whole game. The Argentinians had our blokes down 1 nil at half time after an incredible deflection into the net off a hit outside the 25. It looked like they were going to pull off a win despite the relentless efforts of all of the Kookaburras. Wave after wave of attacks were fended off. Yet our guys kept up their own relentless, rolling attacks. The 3 goals scored in the second half can be put down to the stamina of our guys, the fine coaching by Rick Charlesworth and persistence under great pressure.

Sunday - Bloody-hell! These guys are fit!

The players from Aus A and the Nederlands suffered in the late afternoon heat but the pace was not affected. Constant subbing kept the tea,s relatively fresh, high standard of hockey.

As a hockey player myself, i actully welcomed some of the new rules that were being trialed. it opened the game up and allowed it to flow, involving the players more , especially the goalies, right across the field.

Usually I am a hockey purist and prefer the game to be played in the traditional manner.
WOW! The new rules, faster format and mixed competition really changed my mind.
This series was premium hockey at the elite level. Bring it on!

The super series was a fantastic day out. My kids are still talking about it.

Fantastic concept and organisation. Well Done to the organisers and players.
One improvement for next year is in regards to season pass. A note on each days ticket to say which day it relates to will save having to carry four tickets every day.

The new concept for international hockey and hockey as a spectator sport was for the inaugral tournament an unmitigated sucess. With a minor change to some of the rules for dangerous play this format will encourage people to watch it on television and try the sport and increase the numbers, already over 100,000 in WA alone. The national Masters Tournament attracts over 1100 players every year with people up to 82 years old still competing, encouraging a longer competitive life not seen in other sports.

Tremendous series of games. We had great seats in the Lower Grandstand to view the fast pace action from some of the worlds best teams.
Emotions were running high with the Pakistan: India games and the passionate spectator participation helped to create a wonderful atmosphere. The men's GF between Australia and NZ was as fast as it gets with spectacular goals at both ends.
At games-end, players and coaches were very accessible which made the day for my kids who were hungry for autographs.
Pity there weren't more international teams; perhaps next year we could get Spain, Argentina and Netherlands to participate. More Asian teams certainly should be involved as they are on our doorstep.
Well done Hockey WA, Hockey Aust, PHS and Lanco Int!

Was an awesome day!!! The Kookaburras were fantastic, they stayed out for a while and signed lots of autographs. The Hockeyroos didn't stay out for as long, which was a little dissapointing for the kids. Still, it was awesome to see both teams win the Gold medals.

Six guys in yellow suits a disgrace for Australian events' management planning. Uncordinated,suits didn't fit . Should have been like the Olympics opening ceremomy.
20 Minkey /Junior players - having a run on the turf in front of a crowd would have been more fun and brought 40 more people to watch.
Adverts in Western Australian News didn't even have the dates. !!
Seating booking bad - Buy a ticket early (numbered) on the day -- sit anywhere. ?

I was very disappointed with the seating arrangements. You allocated quite a number of seat in the grandstand for VIP's which was unused and left a number of grandstand members seeking other seats in areas that wants conducive for watching this game.
As a player and avid fan I was really disappointed with this scenario and was quite prepared to pay for the better seats however, I wasn't given an option to do so when booking through Ticketmaster.

It was a fun day out for the family and the hockey was exciting. The hockey went for just the right amount of time without being too uncomfortable on the grass. Kids had fun where there was plenty to see and do and also able to get some autographs from the players. All in all we all had a great time, would love to see this type of hockey again.

Fantastic start for the Kookaburras. Just checking to see if the Argentinians were awake. Yes they were! Turned into a great battle that culminated with a draw. Both sides looked to be in great spirits and were evenly matched in their fitness levels. Great game by both teams. GO the KOOKABURRAS!!
