We really love going to the cricket, but we need much better competition. even for us dihard cricket fans it was totally boring towards the end. the security need to lighten up, we don't see a problem with the beach balls doing the rounds of the crowd. Lets face it sometimes the beachballs and the mexican wave were more exciting than the cricket.
A Suggestion: Play the 50 over matches over the Christmas School holidays as people normally have more time and play the 20/20 games later in January when most people have gone back to work but still have time to make the start of the game after work. this was the general concensis with most people I spoke to.

The venue and organisation of the people going to and from the event was outstanding. I found the dissapointment of the day was the inconsistancy of the ground announcements. While the Australian team was batting, every player that came in and went out was announced as well as any achievement eg 50 partnership etc.
When the West Indies players were in not every change over was announced, nrt milstones. If there was a technical problem it would have been easy for the announcer to explain this when the problem was corrected, this did not happen. It looked like the West Indies players did not warrant any acknowledgement as it was taken for granted that the Australian's would win and they were playing a minor team. This was very disapointing. This seems in contradiction of the displayed waring of no tolerance of any racial discrimination. Futher discrimation became evident when only Australian team medchanise was available to be purchased excepting for one lone 2007 West Indies ICC flag. I am a proud Australian and I find it sad that this experience seemed to be not very balanced for both teams.
The rest of the day and night and all other aspects of the cricket was amazing.

Went with my mate's wife. I had plenty of time to get to know her better. There was a good atmsosphere, although not a very big crowd. It is a shame that the Windies are not at their best at the moment. This would have made for a much more enjoyable game. Still had fun. :)

Good cricket and atmosphere. The atmosphere was better than I expected, because the crowd ignored the rules about no mexican waves and beach balls at the game. With only 20,000 at the game you have the chance to move seats and get some shade .If you can afford it ,or arrange it ,get seats away from the sunny sections in the 50's and 60's -they're way too hot in the sun and theres not a breath of wind inside the stadium.
Didnt give it 5 stars because cricket australia have a dumb rule about no bags with more than one zip in the stadium. So we had to go to a cloakroom to book in my 11 year old sons backup in case he was a terror suspect! Missed the first few overs of the game because of that.
Also the gabba shops have no eftpos -the few atm machines ran out of money quick even though the stadium was only half full.

I took my two children to the event aged 10 and 15. I would never take them to a cricket match again it was way to hot and there were to many drunk young men we were shower in beer a number of times.
As we walked in the police where escorting poeple out. we lasted 3hrs only had enough.
these events should be Alochol free. You can not have a beer in the park no more. I beleive that australians have to start setting a better example when it comes to Alochol

Can't believe West Indies won toss and elected to field, well if they wanted a run chase Australia sure gave them something to chase. It was good to see Ricky Ponting get his first one day century at the Gabba. While the West Indies put up a bit of a fight, I noticed at the ground just how clinical Australia were at just about everything they did. I think the Windies will have a good future if they keep improving. Although it was a bit hot and the drinks were very expensive I thoroughly enjoyed my first trip to the Gabba with my two boys. 50 over cricket is not dead if you ask me.

it was a good day out i took the young one to his first game of cricket and spent the money to get good seats.punter and james hopes came over to the fence and signed autographs when they had the chance and then hussey whom i thought was mr cricket came and fielded in front of us and would not even turn around and give the kids a wave let alone sign an autograph .it was very dissapointing for the kids who are the future of the game.and they wonder why the 50 over game is dying.they had the game won and the least he could do is sign a few bats etc,i know his defence will be that he had to concentrate on the game but without the viewers he will not be picking up his million dollars a year for the sake of spending approx five minutes keeping the kids happy.
lost a lot of respect for you huss

The only regative was the food was very poor quality,my son would not even eat chip or a hot dog!!!!!. He eats anything his 7 with hollow legs.
That's all the best

Cricket is a game that is better live. I thought the ball was fast on TV but it is even faster in real life. I couldn't keep track of it as it was moving too fast. The atmosphere from the crowd is contagious and everyone around us was friendly and courteous.

Overall only an average experience as disappointed that the stadium wasn't full. Why isn't the public supporting the one-day 50 over game anymore?
Is is because of the ticket prices or the outrageously over-priced beer and snacks available inside the venue, or is it because of the one-sided nature of the contests?
I have been watching one-day internationals for 25 years and the format does appear tired, and the players perhaps not giving it the full attention it deserves?

My friend, who is a cricket nut, and myself, an avid cricket fan, attended the Australia vs West Indies game on Sunday, February 14, 2010. It was a great game due to the comaraderie between the West Indies and the Australian cricket players. I always feel that there is less animosity between these teams when they play. There is still the competitive edge to the game but much more pleasant in the way the players interact. I will certainly be going to the one day matches, if they continue, next year when the English Cricket Team comes out to Australia.

The day was absolutely fantasic! The seats were really great - 5 rows from the front. In the shade thank goodness as it was really hot!
The Windies were really entertaining and played up to the crowd on the boundary liine, signing autographs and posing for photos.
The only downer was the 2 zip on the bag check at the entry gate - what a dumb rule! If this is to continue then it needs to be avertised - there was no indication of this rule on our tickets or on the web site - it caused a great deal on unneccesary aggrivation at the entry gates as the security people made us and many others wait in the hot sun to 'book' our bags in to the locker room.
