20 years waiting to see this amazing band in australia was worth the wait they have it all from haunting ballads to folk punk and sing along anthems. the concert in melbourne was absolutely brilliant and the crowd showed there appreciation with sheer enthusiasm and joy. i swear if we all had a beer tray each the whole crowd would have bashed it over their heads with spider

Great concert, The Pogues sounded as good and true as they do on all their albums..they did not disappoint. Good fun pub vibe concert.
only disappointment was the support act, went on for too long and were terrible and too alternative.

Shayne McGowan came on and looked pretty pissed. I was concerned we had wasted our money. Couldnt understand a word he said when he first spoke but once the band started and he started to sing I knew it would be good. The band could never be the same without him singing. I was not dissapointed and sung along to all the old favourites. You would probably have to be a real pogues supporter though to enjoy, as did the full capacity crowd that was there. I want to see them in Sydney now.
Support band was rubbish.

The Pogues was unbelievably disgraceful! A bunch of has beens trying to fund their old age. I have never walked out of a gig but did so half way through this tripe!! I can safely say that I will never go to see the Pogues again!!!

The Pogues were fantastic, most impressive, loved the band. The venue, well, we had a queue right in front of us for a good portion of the evening, the bar facilities were crap, the security staff were doing their best for us but the layout was just wrong. A bit more control over those mindless drunken yokels throwing themselves around toward the end of the evening would have helped too. We couldn't make out any of the between song patter from Shane or Spider, ie the PA wasn't overly clear or the sound engineer was neglecting to turn up the vocals then. Musically fantastic but a bit muddy overall, bit of a dud light show too. Shane's voice still fantastic after all these years. So glad we saw them.

An old fashioned venue, an old fashioned band. Musically the band were awesome, really energetic performance, Shane's voice has held up well despite everything. A rollicking good night.

Grand concert. Only one criticism: how hard would it have been to have organised a local female Irish or otherwise vocalist so they could do 'Fairytale of New York'. And it would have been a great Melbourne touch.

The Pogues gave a generous high energy night at Festival Hall this week belying their age, the age of their audience and the whistlestop nature of the evening as they swept from Perth in an arc through Byron to Sydney and further on. In spite of the tour poster showing seven serious looking men and one recumbent "you still here?" MacGowan the evening was a marvellous testimony to talent dominant over dissolution as he was in good voice and fine tune throughout. He disappeared once or twice but you'd be disappointed if he didn't now wouldn't you. They kept the momentum up for a goodly time and two encores and the stuff everyone wanted was there bar Fairytale but I guess it needed a mezzo soprano and there were none in sight. There was some crowd surfing but no blood shed perhaps everyone was waiting for James Fearnley to provide this in the midst of his outstanding efforts to jump from a great height while playing the accordion. Hope it's not another 23 years. The support was local group Baron's of Tang who were high quality, inventive musicians. It was a great night's music.

Although shane was much tamer than the last time we saw him at byron a few years ago,when he staggered on stage and told us to f off . One still cant understand a word he says but the singing is still there.they played all the hits not sure those around us new them but that was ok we were the oldest people up the front,and like the pogues outlasted some.,,it was great to see them hope they will be back .wish they had plaed fairy tale of new york but guess they need the female voice.
thanks for an amazing night and still being alive.

hot sweaty smelly, if you didn't leave drenched in sweat from dancing

Best live show ever seen. The hall was rocking. Amazing to see so many young people going nuts to real musicians. The Pogues are like a fine wine - getting better with age. Shane was in great form and sung with amazing passion and spirit.

Absolutely amazing! Shane McGowan at his best...would be disappointed if there wasn't the constant 'F' bomb, forgetting of lines and wandering of and on the stage at his leisure. When he opens his mouth and sings though to the beat of their Irish tunes cranked through the venue...FAN- BLOODY -TASTIC. There is and will be only one Pogues!!
Added extra...they opened to The Clash!!
What an ecclectic crowd. I Flew my Dad and Sister from Adelaide to see it and worth every single penny in flights, accomodation and tickets.
BRING THEM BACK PLEASE! :0)
